Root barriers are a type of protection that work to prevent roots from penetrating a home's foundation. In order to prevent the root from expanding, our Biobarrier System uses a specifically developed geotextile cloth to assist embed into the tree's root.
How effective is a root barrier?
Physical barriers are frequently constructed in the trench and buried using plastic sheets, corrugated fibreglass, and cloth. The barrier should be constructed at least 3 to 5 feet deep, but unless it is placed on top of solid rock, roots will ultimately grow underneath it.
Dig a trench once you've decided where to place the root barrier. Most trees have a depth of 24" to 36", less 1 inch if you want to capture something.include surface roots Three to four inches should be the breadth of the trench.
For both trees and shrubs, you should figure at least three times the diameter of the trunk, and you should leave at least 6 inches between your barrier and any plants with stems that are 2 inches in diameter or less.
